Step 1: Start with the outline, just a very good sketch of what we are about to draw. This gives a layout of what we are getting into. The eye i'm drawing is feminine cause it comes with more definition in terms of lashes and softness. I use a h pencil to draw the outline and a mechanical pencil to add some thin lines.

It is not all that clear cause I'm using my camera to take the pictures. I'd work on that.
Step 2: We are now going to be drawing the iris. This part is quite easy as the iris is spherical or somewhat circular in shape. We would also add some of the details. The reason i am using "we" is cause it is a step by step guide and i am guiding you along. I use a dark shade like 4b to shade the pupil as it is quite dark. Also add the highlight that is beside the pupil. This would give it a nice effect.

Step 3: As we can see the drawing is coming alive. Take the blending stump and shade out from the pupil. I use the blending stump cause of the smooth soft texture it gives. You can use q-tips or a brush but never use your fingers. Our fingers trap dirt and oil which makes the graphite on our drawing almost impossible to erase. If we take a look at a reference picture of the human eye we would notice some highlights on the iris. Take a kneaded eraser and pull out the graphite. Another method is to use an empty pen and make indentations with it on the point were the highlights are supposed to be and then blend over it. This will give you a nice highlight.

As we can see, we are attaining some realism.
Step 3:The next thing is to blend the white area of the eye which is also the cornea or the sclera. If there is no graphite on your stump simply rub your pencil around it and lightly shade the cornea. Don't press too hard. Also you can see that i've started adding some lashes on the eye. This isn't hard at all. Start projecting lines in the direction that it goes and start this from the bottom of the lash.

We can see the beauty coming gradually.
Step 4: The next thing is to shade the external region of the eye. Do this in layers. Look for areas that are darker than others and add more layers on those sides. I am also doing the lower lashes. Since they are thinner than the lashes above i simply use a mechanical pencil to get them right. I've also started doing the eyebrows. To get this part, use a dark pencil depending on the tone, mine is dark cause the eyebrows I'm currently drawing are dark.Again start from the base and with careful strokes create the hairs.

That is all, I really hope i was able to teach you some things. Remember it all comes with practice. This is my first blog so please feel to comment and subscribe.
